Policies & Procedures

Understanding our practice guidelines ensures a smooth and effective therapeutic relationship.

Confidentiality

The physician and staff of ABC Psychiatric Consultant, LLC, take your confidentiality seriously and comply with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). The privacy of patients is respected; information about treatment and care will not be released without express consent, except in specific cases mandated by state and federal law.

Insurance

Patients are responsible for understanding their current insurance coverage, including:

  • Out-of-network benefits
  • Deductibles and "out-of-pocket" maximums
  • Need for pre-certification
  • Co-payments and current coverage
  • Maximum annual visits and visits remaining
  • Any changes in coverage

Key Insurance Notes

  • If you exceed your covered benefits, you are responsible for the full payment of uncovered sessions.
  • Mental health coverage may be "carved out" to other managed care companies; the practice is considered out-of-network with those companies.
  • Insurance may limit visits per calendar year, which may not always align with the clinically appropriate level of care determined by your doctor.

Medications

Office Visits

Regular follow-up office visits are required to receive prescriptions.

Lapses in Care

If two or more scheduled visits are missed, or if it has been more than 90 days since your last visit, you must see the physician before any new prescriptions are written.

Refills

If you anticipate running out of medicine,it is necessary to schedule an appointment for Doctor to re-examine your physical and mental conditions before a refill or change of medicine is administered since doing so will guarantee you get the best medical servicefor your condition rather than just out of convenience of guessing.
